Casa Rural Sharíqua is an ideal starting point from which to discover the Alto Palancia and the Alto Mijares, two scenically impressive rural regions at the border of Castellón to Teruel.

These two landscapes have little in common with the meagre Mediterranean vegetation of other areas in the Valencia Region. In fact, green valleys, springs, reservoirs, natural pools in the rivers as well as fruit and vegetable gardens dominate the picture. And of course the plantations of olive trees.

The scenery is dominated by seemingly never ending forests with black pines, oaks and other deciduous trees as well as imposing mountains where nature lovers will discover fascinating views, breathtaking gorges and secretive caves. Together with the green of the vegetation redominates the ever present blue of the water that flows here and there and has given the area the name "Ruta de los Manantiales", "the route of the springs".

An authentic natural heritage can be found at five kilometres from Jérica: the cork oak forest of the Sierra de Espadán, unique in the western Mediterranean and with its 31.000 hectares the largest natural park of the Valencia Region.
